March Madness
March. Lots has been going on aside from the constant sadness of my dad not being here. I received two fitness certifications, have been training, trail running, and staying as busy as possible!
Certifications:
The first weekend of March I spent my entire weekend at the gym. A full day of learning and test taking then another full day of actually working out. The outcome...... a Group Exercise certification and Boxing Fusion certification. They are both through NETA and will be opening the doors to many exciting things in my future- starting with.... teaching a new class!

Starting April 3rd I will be adding Boxing Fusion to my schedule. I will teach this Monday evenings at 7:30pm. This class will be fast paced and high cardio-I am so excited! If you want to join me but are not a member at HWC- let me know!! I will still be teaching Sculpt and Tone on Monday nights at 6:30 so no worries my friends who love that class.
Aside from teaching I have also been doing my own training for some upcoming races. As mentioned before, I am going to do a few triathlons this summer so I am easing into my official training season. I have been running, biking, and lifting nearly 7 days a week.
Swimming:
I.SUCK.
Swimming is SO challenging for me, but that might be why I enjoy it. My first swim was a few weeks ago. I bought new googles, dug out my swimsuit from approximately 10 years ago and hit the pool. I swam one lap and thought I was going to drowned-I have a long way to go. I also need music- does anyone have any waterproof Bluetooth headphones they recommend?

In addition to swimming I have been continuing to run, bike and lift. I have gone to Spinsanity at 5:30AM a few times which I like. I have also been doing some cross fit type workouts on my own with weights. My workout schedule has been all over the place ranging from 5:30AM to lunch workouts, to 8pm after Scarlett goes to bed. I just do whatever works. Jake is pretty consistent with going before work. Sometimes we tag team, sometimes we do 2-a-days.
Trail Run:
I had 3 different races on my calendar for last Saturday. St. Patty's Day 7 miler, Dino Series trail run and Holliday Park trail run. I woke up Saturday and decided on the Holliday Park trail run. It was beautiful over there. I did the 5 mile run and got 2nd in my age group with a time of 46:22. It was so fun. I would have loved to have some friends do it with me..... any takers for next time?

Garage Gym:
I am ready for the summer. Our garage gym kind of closes down from November-April when it's cold out. We've got some big plans for this summer in our garage.... stay tuned for this!

Arnold Recap:
A couple weeks ago Jake and I took Friday off of work, Grandma came down and watched Scarlett and we drove to Columbus, OH for the Arnold Sports Festival. Just when we thought we were feeling fit we showed up there and saw all of these insane fitness finatics. I will say it was a big motivator and really neat to see all of the small fitness businesses. We both got some Caffeine & Kilos gear and sampled endless amounts of protein. The main reason we went was to watch Jake's friend Adam compete in Olympic weightlifting- he did awesome!

I will leave you with a couple of my recent workouts. Both group exercise, and ones I have done on my own:
Scarlett has been boycotting weekend naps, so some of the warmer weekends I have put her in the stroller and used that as nap time while I get in some miles. Do what you gotta do, right?
