My ideal workout
I get asked quite a bit what I do for my workouts. I sometimes have a hard time answering since I tend to shuffle between a lot of different types of exercise. I teach group exercise, and I am training for a few triathlons, but what do I really, truly, love to do as a workout? I love lifting, I love pushing myself, I love the sweat and pain. Today I left my workout feeling amazing and thought to myself "that was my favorite kind of workout." It doesn't happen very often anymore since I am usually rushed to squeeze my workout in- but today it happened. That hard, intense, heavy, sweaty, leave you hurting so good kind of workout.
Jake took first shift at 8am when the gym opened. He got home around 10 and then I went to LA Fitness, which is a little longer drive, but since it was Sunday and we had no plans I knew I could go there without a deadline of having to get home. Why do I go all the way to LA Fitness when I have a beautiful, brand new gym right across the street you may wonder...

This was my workout today:
Pre-workout drink: 2 scoops of Amino Energy on the way to and during my workout.
25 Minutes Stairmill at level 11- very intense, lots of sweating. I love the Stairmill.... If I could I would teach an entire class on this.
12 closegrip assisted pull ups holding 3 seconds each
12 wide grip assisted pull ups holding 3 seconds each
Repeat 4X
15 tricep pushdowns- @ 55lbs
15 upright row- 45lb bar
1 pull up hold for 15 seconds
Repeat 4X
15 air squats to warm up
15 squats with bar (45lbs)
15 squats @ 95lbs
10 squats @ 115lbs
8 squats @ 135lbs
6 squats @ 155lbs
15 air squats
*My goal is always to squat more than I weigh. Done.
15 leg extensions @ a weight I can't remember
15 pushups
Repeat 4X
15 incline sit-ups with 11lb medicine ball
15 Russian twists with 11lb medicine ball
Calf raises
Stretch in sauna- 10 minutes

Usually I am pretty content with my random playlist when I workout, however, workouts like today I like to listen to rap. Jake got me Bluetooth headphones for Christmas and those have been gamechangers. I can set my phone down and do my entire workout. They are cheap & from Amazon but they get the job done.

So, there ya have it. Endorphins were flyin' high this afternoon and I was a happy momma after this workout.
