Final weeks and post baby goals

Three weeks left until baby girl is here! Jake and I cannot wait to have her here. I am still working out just about everyday and my goal is to do so until she comes. It truly makes me happier and feel better when I am up and moving- ESPECIALLY outside. I may be crazy but I love being out in hot sun! I always have loved summer and the heat and being pregnant has not changed that. I am tired of people telling me how terrible it is to be pregnant in the summer....to be honest I think it would be terrible to be pregnant in the winter!

Here I am 37 weeks pregnant- what are my workouts looking like?

Morning walks with JJ- easy stroll mainly just to keep me and JJ happy before we have to be  inside all day

Before bed family walks- Me, Jake and JJ take a walk every night before bed. Quite possibly the best part of my day. We are ready to have S stroll with us though.

Evening or weekend runs- yes I am still running! After work and on the weekends I would say I am running about 3-4 times a week. I haven't been doing more than 3 miles these past few weeks- but I am OK with that. I am running 11 minute miles which is tough for me...I miss running 8 minute miles but I know it isn't very realistic right now and my time will come for my 8 minute miles to return.

What does running at 37 weeks pregnant feel like? Feels like I have 20 pound weights on each leg. Other than that it feels like I am just overweight (which I am.) I can't wait to be pushing S in a stroller for these runs!

Weights/other cardio- I am still lifting very lightly. I use 10lb free weights still and do some machines at the gym. I am just focused on maintence for my muscles right now. I also still love the stair master and try to do 25 minutes of it a couple times a week. I used to do level 12 and now I do level 3 if that tells you anything. It is starting to get to the point where people are looking at me a little crazy for being at the gym- but I don't mind.

Swimming- I have swam a few times the past few weeks and I love it. I went to the Y on Saturday and jogged a mile in the outdoor pool and did kick board. I would highly recommend this for all pregnant women. The hardest part of swimming while pregnant is wearing my 2 piece athletic swim suit and submerging my large belly into the water- but again just have to get over it.

I cannot express enough how much working out has made the pregnancy enjoyable. I wish I could stand ontop of the world and scream it to all pregnant women. KEEP WORKING OUT! The benefits are amazing and you WILL feel better.  My doctor continues to tell me to keep it up until I deliver.

I am so excited to share a few of my post pregnancy goals! I know I will be out of working out for about a month depending on the delivery....but once I am back I have some big goals aside from being a great mom.

Hoosiers Outrun Cancer 5k on September 26th- shooting for this to be my comeback run/walk and our first family event.

Indianapolis Monumental Half Marathon in November- alright this is a big stretch but depending on how everything goes I would love for this to be my first half marathon back. Not counting on it though.

Thanksgiving Turkey Trot- Weather and location pending but this is penciled in the books for a fun family run!

Crossfit-  I would love, love, love to start crossfit. Once I feel like I am back in some sort of shape I really want to try it out and see if I love it like I think I will. I can see this in my future  and I think it would be good for my MOM schedule once that gets established this fall.

2016- 5ks, half marathons and triathlons~ stay tuned!

One final note for all moms that workout. Watch this video... it sums up every reason why I want to keep fitness in my life and why I have kept up my workouts during my pregnancy. Not only am I doing it to be a good role model for my daughter, but also doing it for all of the women who have told me there is NO way I will ever workout my whole pregnancy, and how it will be impossible to bounce back after birth- it IS all possible.
