6 weeks postpartum
6 weeks! It has been 6 weeks since Scarlett was born. 6 weeks since I have been pregnant and 6 weeks since I have been able to run and lift. 6 weeks has gone so quickly but at the same time it has been WAY too long since I have been able to run and workout. Here is a quick update on these past 6 weeks and my plans for the next few months as far as fitness goes.
Here is Miss Scarlett Isabelle this week. She weighed in at 10lbs 3oz Tuesday morning. This little nugget is very stubborn, LOVES to eat and is the happiest when she is in the stroller, being swung in the car seat or being bounced on the exercise ball with her Dad. My doctor wasn't joking when she said that all of my pregnant running will cause me to have a baby that needs to be moving at all times.
She is sleeping pretty well at night from 9ish pm- 8ish am waking up about 3 times to eat. She is hilarious and makes us laugh along with tests us every day!
So...how have I kept sane these past 6 weeks without working out? It has been hard. Very, very hard. I am so thankful the weather has been amazing and for the most part Scarlett has been loving walks. Since we can't run quite yet and we don't like sitting inside I would say we go on 3-5 walks a day if the weather is nice. Sometimes we go to the park nearby and walk laps around the trail.
She loves being in the stroller! Fingers crossed once we start running she will continue to love it.
Last weekend we all went to Fort Ben and walked the paved trail. It was gorgeous and so refreshing!
Last weekend both Saturday and Sunday morning Jake watched the baby and I went out for a "power walk" on my own. I might have snuck some jogging in and let me just say I felt some endorphins and man it was AMAZING! I am so excited to start running and working out again. I really don't care much about weight loss as much as I do regaining my strength. I'm telling ya, I have the weakest core right now and it sucks!
So... I am heading to my doctor today to hopefully get cleared to workout! If all goes well you better believe I'm going for a run tonight as soon as Jake gets home.
I plan to ease back into the gym and do stairs, weights, machines and then in a few weeks once I'm feeling stronger I will start my Crossfit adventure!
2 years ago I ran 9.8 miles. #motivation!
&& if you need a good laugh take a look at JJ enjoying breakfast yesterday- Chex and Special K!
Oh and check out my new mom hair done by Alexa!! I am so, so grateful she came to my house to do my hair! I haven't had hair this short since 4th grade maybe? David Burkholder told me I looked like Martha Stewart and kind of scarred me (I hope he reads this.) I overcame my fear and love my new hair. It will be perfect for sweaty workouts.
