Keeping it simple with diet

I have never been really obsessed with food and diet like a lot of people are. There are so many diet trends these days it is hard to follow them all. I think to each is there own when it comes to diet. You have to figure out what makes you feel good, what makes you feel bad, and what works best for you and your family.

Jake and I keep it pretty simple around here and it works just fine for us. We work out everyday so we are constantly burning, meaning we may eat more than the average human. Here are a few things about our "diet":

We take our lunch during the week
We eat at home (or Subway) during the week for dinner
We eat out on the weekends
We love pizza
We love Chinese
We love ice cream
We love beer

And yes we eat pizza, Chinese, ice cream and drink beer. We also keep in mind the following:

Water is the best thing we can put into our body
Our bodies need food as fuel since we do workout so often
It is important to get most of the food groups into our body daily

We also do not drink soda- and hopefully after you watch this video you will reconsider:

I think moderation is key in what people eat. I think diets that restrict people from eating what they want are just crazy. I am a big fan of Weight Watchers if people are looking for a specific diet. Mainly because Weight Watchers just has you counting your calories and keeping them under control. With healthy eating and exercise, diet should be a simple aspect of life. Here is a look inside a typical day eating with the Jaworski's:

Morning Coffee- this is a must for both of us. I like it with creamer and 1 sweet n low, but Jake can drink it black

Yogurt and granola or a banana for breakfast. This can be post workout or split up before and after workout. I like to take this to work after my workout.

Lunch:
Jake takes a pb &J on wheat, I take a turkey and cheese on wheat... I can't quite figure out why Jake is so in love with PB &J but it is cute
Cut up cucumbers and peppers
Fruit of some sort
Crackers or pretzels

Afternoon snack of a Power Bar, trail mix, or an apple

An example of a dinner at our house is grilled chicken or salmon, grilled zucchini or sweet potato and rice:

Overall pretty simple, right? I also like to make pumpkin or banana bread to snack on. This is great for after long runs on the weekends. I am going to try to post some of my favorite simple recipes on the tab above.

Jake and I both LOVE chocolate, cookies and sweets- to curb this we just try not to keep it in the house often. The picture below is from a chocolate party we went to on our honeymoon..... boy was it good!

The alarm is set for 5:15am for a morning workout and hopefully and afternoon run. 2 a days for us tomorrow. We didn't make it to the gym today.......I have been working 12 hour days and we both just wanted to enjoy the evening at home tonight. Back at it in about 8 hours though!
